Is Santa Real?

Image
Growing up one of the best times for me was Christmas. My parents didn't have the best marriage and fought all the time, but it seemed like it was less during Christmas. It may just be that I was so excited that it seemed that way, but either way I remember being a happy family around Christmas time. My parents would always take us to the North Pole (a Christmas themed amusement park). We would drink hot cocoa and listen to Christmas music while putting up the tree. My dad always did an exceptional job of being Santa. He was so committed to the part he even dropped a Barbie mansion down the chimney one year when I was little. My husband and I decided that we wanted Santa to be a part of our Christmas traditions with our children. This is a personal choice for each family. We have several friends who do not ever choose to do Santa as a part of Christmas and I respect that decision for their families. For us it was about keeping our children innocent for as long as possible. Childre...

Attempting Healthy Eating

Man eating healthy can be so hard! One of my biggest struggles is eating different than my family. If I am really motivated it's not hard to eat different foods, but I struggle with prep for essentially two different meals. I don't want my Littles to eat low carb diets. I have tried and tried, even did the whole fake it till you make it thing. Nothing has worked. Not long term. Maybe for a week here and there my life will look planned out and organized, but one little bump and we are back to flying by the seat of our pants. I feel like a failure and spend lots of time wishing things could be different. Talking to several friends I know I'm not alone. I am not the only one who does everything last minute. Today while I was running around getting Halloween stuff (two days before we need costumes). And yarn to make gifts (for a party in a week). And dinner (for a crock pot meal to be ready in a few hours).  I was feeling overwhelmed and like a failure again. Then I had a realization... I have always been this way. As long as I can remember I would run around last minute trying to get stuff done. But I al...
